How to sell against Microsoft

Microsoft's $10 AI covers meetings. It never hears your phone calls.

Everyone knows the ten dollar number, so expect to hear it. Ten dollars writes up Teams meetings. The AI that reads your work is $21 to $30 and needs the rest of Microsoft underneath it.

$10the number every customer will quote at you
What the customer will say

You will hear these three things.

1
“We already pay Microsoft for everything.”
2
“Copilot does this, right?”
3
“It is only ten dollars a person.”

What Microsoft actually sells

  • Teams Premium, which writes up Teams meetings, at $10 a person
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot, which reads documents and email, at $21 to $30 a person
  • Teams Phone, a separate product, if you want Microsoft to handle your actual phone calls
What it really costs, checked August 2026

All their prices in one place.

Teams Premium

$10 per person per month. This is the number everyone remembers.

Copilot

$30 per person per month for large companies. $21 for smaller ones, currently $18 on a deal that runs to 30 September 2026.

What it needs

You cannot buy Copilot on its own. You need a paid Microsoft 365 plan underneath it first.

Phone calls

Teams Phone starts at $10 per person per month, and that is before you buy calling minutes.

Every number here comes from a published price or an independent pricing review from the last six months. The links are at the bottom of this page. Do not quote a competitor price you have not checked yourself.

The three things to know

This is what you are actually up against.

Not a feature list. These are the three holes in their pitch.

1
Ten dollars is the number in their head. They will say it to you. Do not argue with it. Ask what those ten dollars actually cover. The answer is Teams meetings, not the phone calls that bring in the money.
2
The real AI is $21 to $30 and needs the rest of Microsoft.Copilot only works if the whole company is already on Microsoft 365. For anyone else, the real price is moving their entire business over.
3
It stops at the meeting.Nothing from the phone system. No write-up of a customer call. No warning when something goes wrong. No picture of what customers keep asking for.
What to say

Short and easy to remember.

Say this

Ten dollars is in their head already. Do not fight it. Just ask which calls it covers.

Say this

Copilot reads email and documents. It has never heard a customer on the phone.

Say this

For AI on their phone calls from Microsoft, they need Teams Phone plus Copilot plus a Microsoft 365 plan. Three bills, not one.

The line to remember
Ten dollars gets you meeting notes. Your money comes from phone calls Microsoft never hears. Those are the calls we cover.
