Intelligence CloudSales brief · Vonage
How to sell against Vonage

Vonage sells a cheap seat. Then charges for everything that makes it work.

$13.99 is real and it is not what you pay. Recording is one bill, writing up calls is another, reports are a third. And there are fees on every line that are not in the advertised price.

$49.99a month, just to record your calls
What the customer will say

You will hear these three things.

1
“It starts at thirteen ninety nine.”
2
“You only pay for what you need.”
3
“They have an AI product too.”

What Vonage actually sells

  • A phone service with published prices per line
  • AI sold as a completely separate platform with its own contract
  • A call center product with no published price at all
What it really costs, checked August 2026

All their prices in one place.

Phone lines

$13.99, $20.99 or $27.99 per line per month if you pay for a year. $19.99 to $39.99 if you pay monthly.

Recording

You can record one call at a time on the middle plan and up. Recording everything automatically is a $49.99 a month add-on.

Everything else

Writing up calls, call queues, better reports and compliance features are all add-ons, usually $4.99 to $49.99 a month each.

Call queues

$14.99 a month per queue plus usage, or $250 a month per queue for unlimited.

Fees on top

$3.50 per line, plus 911 and government charges. None of it is in the price they advertise.

Every number here comes from a published price or an independent pricing review from the last six months. The links are at the bottom of this page. Do not quote a competitor price you have not checked yourself.

The three things to know

This is what you are actually up against.

Not a feature list. These are the three holes in their pitch.

1
The advertised price is not the bill.$13.99 sounds great until the fees and the add-ons land. Real bills come out well above the number on the website.
2
You buy the AI three separate times.Recording everything is $49.99 a month. Writing up calls is another bill. Reports are another one after that. Add them all up and nothing has actually been done about the call.
3
Support becomes an 800 number.Every Vonage product is a direct deal with Vonage. The local person who knows the business and answers the phone is out of the picture.
What to say

Short and easy to remember.

Say this

Ask them to price a seat with recording, call write-ups and reporting all switched on. That is the real comparison.

Say this

Fifty dollars a month just to record the calls, before anything reads them.

Say this

Their way is a cheap seat and a long menu. Ours is one price with the work already done.

The line to remember
Vonage sells the seat cheap and the useful bits separately. Yours is one price that already does the work, on the phones you already have.
